Whole Foods Market is slated to establish a presence in downtown San Diego as part of the Front & A skyscraper project. The upscale supermarket chain is set to occupy approximately 50,000 square feet of ground-floor and mezzanine space at the base of a 34-story residential tower being developed by Holland Partner Group.

Confirmed by Holland Partner Group to the Union-Tribune, Whole Foods Market’s venture into downtown San Diego at the Front & A project at 201 West A St. marks a significant addition to the area’s retail landscape. The grocery giant will share the downtown market with Sprouts Farmers Market, offering residents an additional high-quality grocery option.

Incorporated into the project are plans for Whole Foods Market to utilize most of the ground floor and mezzanine level of Front & A, which will include dedicated areas for staff and customer comfort, such as an employee lounge and customer seating spaces.

Moreover, the development includes a range of amenities, such as a ninth-floor amenity deck featuring a dog run, indoor lounge, meeting facilities, and an indoor-outdoor fitness center. Additionally, the top floor will boast a rooftop lounge with a pool, spa, and outdoor terrace. Anticipated for completion in the second quarter of 2026, the Holland Partner Group’s Front & A high-rise is currently under construction.
